A golden, elevated region closer to divine power. It leads to the capital city and represents the height of civilization before everything collapsed Altus Plateau is where Elden Ring really starts to feel grand. After everything you’ve seen so far—ruins, rot, and fallen kingdoms—Altus is different. It’s bright, golden, and still holds pieces of the world at its peak… but underneath that beauty, things are just as broken.
This region sits high above the rest of the Lands Between, almost like it’s closer to the gods themselves.

Altus Plateau is heavily influenced by the Erdtree, which towers over the land and bathes everything in gold light.
- The Erdtree represents order, life, and divine rule
- Altus is where that influence is strongest outside the capital
- Everything here feels more “holy,” but also more controlled
It’s basically the center of the Golden Order’s power.
Altus acts as the path to Leyndell, Royal Capital, the most important city in the game.
To even reach Altus, you need to prove yourself (usually by using the Grand Lift or climbing through dangerous underground paths). This makes it feel like a reward—and a warning—that you’re getting closer to the truth of the world.
